Brendan McDowell is a seasoned RIS / HIS / PACS and IT administrator with years of noteworthy experience.
A talented, driven professional with healthcare informatics and information technology experience, Brendan has a reputation for demonstrating leadership ability while maintaining dedication to a team environment. Brendan has a strong work ethic, positive attitude as well as excellent communication, management and organizational skills.

Brendan’s broad range of experience includes over 7 years in PACS Administration, 9 years in IT Administration, and over 12 years in general network and systems support.

Brendan is also the founder and president of BMD Creative Services Inc. (formerly InfinaSol), a St. Petersburg, Florida area marketing & consulting firm.

Pancreatic Cancer Advocacy

There are no early detection methods for pancreatic cancer.
In August of 2000, Brendan’s father Timothy suddenly passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 49. Ever since then, Brendan has been determined to help educate people on this little-known, deadly disease. In 2008, Brendan along with 3 other St. Petersburg businessmen created Four Aces Events which hosts yearly charity events in the Tampa Bay area.

The Four Ace’s inaugural event, CASINOVA, was held November 7th, 2008 during National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and it benefitted the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Most recently, Brendan held the CIO position at SMH Radiology Associates in Sarasota, FL. As the chief information officer (CIO) for SMHRA, Brendan personally led the transition to a new radiology information system (RIS), the implementation of speech recognition reporting, and a major upgrade of the existing picture archiving and communication system (PACS). Additionally, he conceived and executed solutions that increased outside teleradiology volume using the latest HL7 and DICOM standards.

Prior to SMHRA, Brendan was the PACS/IT Administrator for Diagnostic Outpatient Centers in St. Petersburg, FL. As the PACS/IT Administrator for DOCs, Brendan was responsible for the initial integration and maintenance of the PACS, teleradiology, practice management, reporting and billing systems for all of their locations.
